Mysteryland USA returns to the site of the legendary Woodstock Festival at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, New York over the Memorial Day weekend this year. In an effort to continue their sustainability efforts and support for local communities, Mysteryland will once again hold a 10,000 hour community service day on April 18, 2015.
The 10,000 hour project is designed to create a feeling of unity between festival goers and their community. Participants will sign up to donate their time to projects that help the community around the festival site. This year Mysteryland is teaming up with The Children’s Community Garden, Sullivan Renaissance Program and Bethel Woods Center for the Arts to revamp the children’s community garden. It is the vision of Mysteryland to inspire festival-goers to actively participate in the society in which they live, supporting both group participation and active citizenship.
Through this initiative, Mysteryland’s goal is to reach 10,000 hours of time donated to charity work. Participants donate their time in exchange for a Nomad Weekend & Holy Ground Camping ticket to Mysteryland USA. Not only is Mysteryland committed to bettering the communities around the festival, but also continuing environmental sustainability practices throughout the festival. 2015 sustainability initiatives include:
● Clean Vibes: Waste Management (Recycle)
● Cup Program
● Energy Management
● Fair Trade & Eco-Friendly Food & Beverage Vendors
● Shuttles & Carpool
● Water Project (free tap water for all patrons via real water bars)
Be on the lookout for Mysteryland’s full sustainability initiatives due out in April. The 10,000 hour community service day is an amazing opportunity to give back to the communities around Bethel Woods to ensure a brighter future. In return you’ll receive a free ticket to one of the biggest festivals in the US.
