You may not have heard of Phlegmatic Dogs before, but if you’re very familiar with Deep House you should be very familiar with AC Slater’s label Night Bass. The Russian based duo and LA based label have teamed up to release the Keepmastik EP, which contains some of the freshest House beats that you’ll hear in a long time. The title track and Serious Frenkie both have a techno grind style to them, but just happen to be stupidly catchy. The other song, Donut Dope, is much closer to the style of UK Bass House, and Phlegmatic Dogs show why it is so big in that part of the world in an unrelenting yet well produced tune. Keepmastik should really be compulsory listening for any bass lover, House head or Techno fan looking to get out of their comfort zone, so make sure to give it a listen through.
