Seven Lions released another hit in the making yesterday with his new song titled “Lose Myself” (feat. Lynn Gunn). A powerful song with an up-beat tempo, Lose Myself starts off with a slow melody and quickly builds into a faster pace with beautiful lyrics to really add depth to the song. As the first taste of Seven Lion’s new EP titled: “The Throes of Winter,” it leaves you wanting more but only due to the quality of the song. Similarities can be found with past songs: Days to Come and Don’t Leave. As a result, Lose Myself capitalizes on Seven Lions strengths as a producer by incorporating a catchy melody with strong female vocals, an open-to- interpretation message, and the bouncy dub-step and trance mixed sound (also known as Trancestep) he’s famous for.
Overall, my interpretation of this song is that it’s about how deeply you can feel connected and in love with someone else. Moreover, the person of interest is “losing themselves” in the identity of the other person due to their interconnections. With “The Throes of Winter” scheduled to release on iTunes on March 3rd, keep a look out for the rest of the songs to release and nicely fit with this one.
