There is something about Happy Hardcore that never ceases to excite me. The insane tempo is part of that appeal, but I also quite enjoy how much happy hardcore uses that tempo to generate emotion and turn a track from something slow and melodic into something that gets your heart racing and keeps you in the moment while you desperately try to dance. A classic track from Skrillex receives this treatment from Ballistix. The tempo is sped up, though the core elements of “With Your Friends” are still present and easily heard. As the track progresses you can hear the change from the original melodic elements that made this track so popular, and those parts that eventually fade into the bass/melody that is characteristic of happy hardcore.
