Space Jesus….back at it again with the bass, but this time, with his first EP release in collaboration with Wakaan Records. Known for his powerful stage presence, heavy bass, and experimental sounds, “Zoned Vol. 1” doesn’t disappoint. As his name proclaims, Space Jesus invites listeners to the galaxy of his mind and allows them to feel out of this world bass. He is definitely proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with and will be blowing up the EDM scene, more than he already is now, soon. Catch him at some of his upcoming festival performances and sets this summer and I promise, you will not be disappointed.
The first song on the EP, “M Night Shambhala” immediately draws the listener in with the atmospheric, mysterious sounds and voiceover. You are entranced. Stopping the music is not an option; you want to hear what happens next. When Space Jesus dropped this track at Euphoria, the entire crowd vibrated and lost their minds once the bass dropped. The interesting melodies and weird mashup between the bass creations just weave together perfectly.
Track 2, “Jovian Chorus“, takes us out of the outworldly The Sixth Sense vibe provided by “M Night Shambhala” and places us on a warm, tropical beach instead. The dubby reggae ambience with a hint of bass and tonal fluctuations provide a laidback feel. In the last minute, we are thrown a curveball and thick “wompy” dubstep and tonal fluctuations take over the background music.
“And now, this futuristic pipedream is slowly becoming a reality” begins “Jafar’s Pipedream”, the final song on the EP. Just as the EP started, I can only guess Space Jesus wanted to continue keeping us on our toes, awaiting his next move and transition. “Jafar’s Pipedream” is a lot less different sounds layered on top of each other and more of a wonky, yet melodic and enticing feel. He still continues the outer galactic vibe with sounds that can best be related to flying through outer space.
Each track, equally unique in their one way, help to contribute to the overall vibe that Space Jesus is known for… weirdly perfect, yet heavy, jams. He is continuing to shut it down and we at EDMAssassins are excited to continue to follow his journey!
