Starting a Music Festival from Scratch

Have you ever seen a festival lineup announced and thought “Literally anyone could do better than that?! smdh….”

Maybe not in those exact words, but we’ve all dreamt of hosting our own version of Ultra or EDC that is a smashing success; booking all the best artists, the most diverse lineup, and having just the right amount of production. Since most of us aren’t billionaires, able to shell out that kind of cash to put on the festival of our dreams whenever we wanted, Grant and I decided we’d like to see just exactly how you would go about starting a festival, booking artists, getting a venue, securing sponsors and a public relations team, and making our dream festival into a reality.

In this series we will delve into every aspect of starting a music festival and seeing it through to opening the “imaginary” gates. Not only for our benefit, but maybe to give the world a little insight into just how difficult putting on that once in a lifetime festival really is. Stay tuned as we dive into a new portion of the festival with every article in the series and hope to not only enlighten ourselves, but share some behind-the-scenes knowledge with you all.
