Whenever we think of Stélouse, we think of the great ambient music that has been produced and how we are able to relax to it. Stélouse doesn’t change his ambient style but he does add a bit more pop to it that allows its listener to be able to dance to it if they choose to. “Been So Long” featuring Nick Leng keeps to the ambient style but it differs in its tempo and its choice for bass guitar. We still are able to hear the synthetic waves that have made Stélouse such a hit but there is a sound of simple piano that is catchy to the dance tempo he is consistent with in “Been So Long”. Perhaps, Stélouse is implying that it has been so long that he made an uptempo sound and now we are even more in love with it. We are even teased with an even faster tempo near the end when we hear the addition of tambourines! Stélouse is so diverse and musically gifted.
Lest not forget the vocals provided by Nick Leng. For those of us who know Nick Leng, we are not at the very bit surprised that he decided to collaborate with Stélouse because they styles are so similar. The part that is surprising is the fact that they both stepped outside their comfort zones of ambiance and stepped toward dance electronic. Nevertheless, it is great to see artists shift to take a challenge outside of what they are used to and we were not disappointed with the result.
Be sure to give Stélouse a listen with Been So Long featuring Nick Leng.
