Steve Aoki Knocks a Fan Down with Cake Throw at Ultra

March 28, 2017 by Theo Maulen

To start off, for those who follow what I say here and on Twitter, I don’t like Aoki much. his music style bothers me for some reason.

When Steve Aoki performs, he always makes sure to throw a cake into the crowd. Personally, I do not know why he does this but he does it every time, nonetheless.  His fans now seem to encourage him throwing it.

Anyway, during Miami this past weekend, Steve Aoki did his regular stuff and threw a sheet cake into the crowd. Unfortunately, when he did it this time, he might have hurt someone. Videos have come to light where when he throws the cake, he hits an attendee on another person’s shoulders, causing them to fall back.

I have a two issues with this happening…

  1. Why throw a cake? That is crazy that he just gets a huge cake and throws it at the crowd. Clearly that could cause someone to get hurt if they aren’t paying attention. Outside of him, I’ve only seen water, t-shirts and towels thrown into the crowd at dance festivals. Noting with as much weight as a cake.
  2. Why are you throwing it towards a person on another’s shoulders? Like, that person is not that tall. So what is going to happen when they get hit? You see them fall and the crowd all kind of moves back out of their way and let them drop.

There was no announcement or statement put out by Aoki. I feel, personally, if you cause that kind of result – a person falling and and possibly getting hurt – you should release some kind of statement regarding the incident.  But that is just me.

If you do a simple check on Twitter these come up pretty quick.
