TC – Unleash the Wolves LP

July 8, 2016 by Nick Grindrod

3Beatcd024-TC-Unleash-The-Wolves-Packshot

Bristol-based Drum and Bass producer TC has straddled the boundary between underground and mainstream in the DnB scene for around a decade, and with his last album being released nine years ago another one has been well overdue for quite a while. He’s finally gotten around to making another one, and the result is eleven bangers, ranging from Liquid to Jump Up to Grime infusions. In fact, Rep (with long-time collaborator Jakes) sounds like it could have come straight from 2003, and on Hold On the man sings a ballad before the most chilled yet euphoric drop on the album.

Unleash the Wolves doesn’t break a lot of new ground in terms of Drum and Bass production, instead looking back throughout the progression of the genre over the last 15 years or so, through the eyes of someone who’s been there for that long. And as you’d guess, TC absolutely nailed it. As is his standard, there aren’t any songs on the album that will get heavy radio rotation, yet all of them are great. Unleash the Wolves is sure to please older Drum and Bass fans, and if you want to hear what the genre is really all about then Unleash the Wolves is the perfect starting point. You can download the album here.
