I love mashups. When they are good, they are hella good. When they are great, I’d rather listen to them than the originals they use. This ‘Lean On’ and ‘The Next One’ is straight awesome/dope/fire/any other adjective you can think of. The combo of Jay Z rapping to the vocals from ‘Lean On’ works perfectly and the two background melodies and musical arrangements match up really well, providing listeners with a fun alternative to both of the originals that are themselves, very good.
The White Panda are known for these awesome mashups and I hope they continue putting them out because I’m in love. Having dabbled with mashups myself, I know that they are difficult at best and these guys have knocked it out of the park. Take a listen.
