Throwback Thursday: The Bloody Beetroots Ft. Steve Aoki – Warp 1.9

ONE, TWO, WOOP! WOOP! Warp 1.9 is one of those songs that you just have to go mad to every single time you hear it. It’s not that old in the grand scheme of things, but it was one of the first songs in the current EDM scene that crushed dancefloors so mercilessly. It’s electro, pure and simple, with the massive synths doing most of the work – even the heavy beat pales in comparison to the synths. And after you’ve gone mad to the first drop, you still won’t be ready for the second one. It’s a glitched version of the first that leaves you with no clue as to how you should react, apart from going utterly mad to the music.

This song is also notable in that it was one of the first to put both the Bloody Beetroots and especially Steve Aoki into the spotlight, with the latter going on to become one of the most famous EDM DJs around and the former still going strong with a number of quality releases as well. The electronic music scene has come so far in the last five and a half years, and this banger marks the point where EDM started to rise. And it turned out that the epicness of Warp 1.9 was a great predictor of the way that the scene would go.
