Tiga announces his third studio album, No Fantasy Required, and the first since Ciao in 2009. As a curator of dance music that spans all genres, No Fantasy Required takes that piece and runs with it, each track finding its own place in the album with little overlap from one track to another. This unsettling album experience is different by all means, but by none is it bad or unappealing. For listeners it gives us something new, a change we can hear and feel as each track rises and falls. There is something to be heard within each song that will not be heard later in the album.
One of the most anticipated tracks off the album is Tiga’s collaboration with Hudson Mohawke on the track “Planet E”. The drip-drop sound byte makes for a unique track accompanied by strong vocals and a direct message. The electronica here is slightly subtle, but Tiga and Hudson Mohawke turn it loose on fans for their own interpretation.
The 11 songs on this album span a wide spectrum of genres with each song not being confined to one sound or genre. With each track comes an entirely new journey and with Tiga as our cruise director, we are in good hands.
