After an unfortunate hiatus, ’10 Songs to Watch’ has returned. This week’s featured new tracks found below are simply mind-blowing. Enjoy!
1. Moguai – The Future
Moguai is back with a roaring new track. With tracks like ‘Champs’ and ‘Mammoth’ in his catalog, it is an achievement in itself to release another blood-pumping track capable of raising the bar. I say the future is his!
2. Arty featuring Angel Taylor – Up All Night
Arty switches up his sound for a more piano-driven style of progressive house, and with mighty chops from Angel Taylor, this change in style is like a refreshing drink of water. There is no doubt that Arty is one of the most creative young producers on the radar right now.
3. Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill – Overdrive (Gecko)
Technically this is cheating; a swarm of buzzing media bees and a Beatport chart-topper make this track a song that’s already been on the watchlist, but I’m playing catch up! If you haven’t yet heard ‘Overdrive’ or music by Oliver Heldens or vocalist Becky Hill, you finally came out from under that rock and discovered a gold mine. This deep house track is so catchy and addicting and will leave you ready for more.
4. Sander van Doorn. Martin Garrix, DVBBS, and Aleesia – Gold Skies
We’ve been waiting a while now for ‘Gold Skies’ to see a release, and finally Martin Garrix delivers with this feature on his EP of the same title. This is big room electro track is sure to leave you with great midsummer night clubbing memories.
5. Seinabo Sey – Younger (Kygo Remix)
Kygo remixes ‘Younger’, a track by indie artist Seinabo Sey. The result? Catchy deep house with tech and indie elements. It’s a nice break from the constant bass-in-your-face tracks ruling the airwaves, and the simple message “you’re not getting any younger” is inspirational and resonates easily with everyone.
6. Chris Malinchak and Mikky Ekko – Stranger
Ah, so we finally have EDM’s answer to ‘Billie Jean’. Seriously, it is amazing how much Mikky Ekko’s voice resembles 1980s Michael Jackson here! Ekko was the male vocalist on Rihanna’s 2012 smash ballad ‘Stay’. Clearly he has evolved so much as a singer in two short years, and this beast of a track is proof. Chris Malinchak, of course, bangs out another treasure of a deep house like hot cakes, and I have no doubt ‘Stranger’ will be devoured like them.
7. Hardwell, Joey Dale, and Luciana – Arcadia
I’ve been waiting for ‘Arcadia’ for quite some time now. Ever since Hardwell premiered the track in his closing Ultra Music Festival set back in March, I fell in love with the track and wanted to hear more. Luciana’s vocals are perfect and bring this song to life. The lyrics of this one will have the ravers out there spontaneously breaking into song… in Arcadia!
8. Hard Rock Sofa and Skidka – Arms Around Me
Another song that I’ve been looking out for, ‘Arms Around Me’ is a track that I predicted to be a massive anthem a while back. Now that Hard Rock Sofa have unleashed this monster on the world, I am ready for that prediction to unfold and for this powerful song to explode everywhere. Hard Rock Sofa just can do no wrong in my book.
9. Kiesza – Giant In My Heart
Not long ago, the name Kiesza didn’t ring a bell with anyone in the US. ‘Hideaway’ was just another underground deep house left unexplored by the public. Then, somehow, Kiesza literally became an overnight sensation. The single was being picked up by radio stations left and right, with stations in the New York area giving her promo as a new artist. Now, ‘Hideaway’ is a huge hit and Kiesza is seeing unexpected fame. I don’t know how or why this singer or song got picked up in America, which is so hard for dance artists to break, but I am extremely pleased someone out there made the right decision. Kiesza is a breath of fresh air. Her deep house style is great. Her vocals just work. All of her songs are so reminiscent of Robin S and the 1990s deep house movement. ‘Giant In My Heart’ picks up where ‘Hideaway’ leaves off and will surely be the next radio frenzy of a single. Give it a few months.
10. EDX – Breathin’
House titan EDX is finally back with a new release. ‘Breathin” is a chill but melodic dance track with chilling vocals to match. This track is a little deep, and it is just very unique to everything else out there right now. I can’t help myself but to hit replay over and over. This song is just perfect for summer, and it holds the ability to put you in the best mood ever.
Thank you for tuning in for another week of ‘Songs to Watch’. Hopefully you got turned on to something new! See you next week!
