Simply pleasant. That’s the first thing that comes to mind when I think about Tisoki’s “In Your Eyes” featuring Von Alexander. Of everything this track does right, the one aspect that stands out the most is, unexpectedly, the vocals; today, it’s very rare to find song that merge the use of vocals and post processing so masterfully. One of the most important factors of incorporating vocals in a song is making sure they compliment the track to the extent of them being their own instrument and vice versa. The worst thing an artist can do is take a good track and muck it up with generic vocal samples that don’t even sound like they should be there in the first place; vocals need to be an inherent part of the song, not something that an artist can just throw on top of a track and call a masterpiece. This is why artists like the Chainsmokers have been so successful. On top of their catchy melodies, the Chainsmokers spend time writing vocals that can stand as the centerpiece of their songs. Tisoki does this all the same except he does so by manipulating Von’s voice in a way that makes it interesting, original and, overall, memorable.
