Ever since HQ and HQ Beach Club closed down in Atlantic City, there has been a huge void left in Atlantic City. This void really upset many who loved going there to see top quality performances by high class artists. Since then, we’ve had some well done attempts to fill the void, but nothing completely does it for us. That doesn’t mean that the other clubs aren’t as good, but I miss seeing top notch artists week in and week out. Now, that WAV Nightclub has announced their partnership with Insomniac, they have decided to drop bombshells.
The first being that Tommy Trash and Skrillex are coming to opening weekend of the club. Some history of the two artists with Atlantic City. The last time Tommy trash was in Atlantic City was Saturday, June 27th, 2015 at Haven because BeachGlow unfortunately had to be cancelled due to weather concerns. Prior to this was August 31st, 2014 at HQ Nightclub. Skrillex, on the other hand, was supposed to perform at HQ Nightclub on September 6th, 2014. Sadly, Revel Casino Hotel which housed the nightclubs shut down on September 2nd, 2014. As you can see, having artists like this is extremely important to not only the nightclub, but the city itself.
From what the press releases say about the club, you can imagine this place to be incredible. The location wasn’t utilized until the purchase of the whole venue by Bart Blattstein as it used to be an area for shops and a water/light show. It is a 20,000 square-feet venue that two spaces, the Main Club and the Mezzanine level. The club will be able to handle the impending big crowds with four bars four bars providing over 200 feet of service. It will have a 8,000 sq ft of LED screen, 200,000 watt sound system, and state-of-the-art lighting system with a 6 foot disco ball in the center. If you haven’t said DAMN yet, say it now! During the summer, guests can enjoy the 6,000 square foot terrace overlooking the water.
I have friends that are already calling the club the new HQ. It makes sense when you see the other artists whom are already booked that frequented HQ Nightclub. So far it has been Sultan + Ned Shepard, MAKJ (who normally performed at the former Mixx Nightclub), and Blasterjaxx.
Now, it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t mention my doubts. Ever since the Pier was bought by Bart Blattstein, the Playground (which was renamed from the Pier) has been subpar at best. I’ve been there personally since the bottom became T-Street which was full of bars. It started as packed and only dwindled down with time. In fact, the whole area was closed a few weeks ago due to renovations according to a security guard whom I talked to when trying to take a girl on a date there. On New Year’s Eve, WAV Nightclub essentially had a soft opening.

While I intended to go, I was in Israel. Although, my close friends all attended and said it was a fantastic time. From what I’ve read, others agreed.
The only downside (which really isn’t much at all, but worth noting) is that they attempted to break the world record of most champagne corks popped simultaneously. According to Guinness, they weren’t able to achieve that.
This official opening of WAV Nightclub is going to be huge. Sure, there were hiccups and a few bumps. That’s to be expected from any new place. I am confident that Bart Blattstein and his team will be able to surpass such issues and really do amazing thing in Atlantic City. Tickets to be selling well especially Skrillex. Time will only tell how amazing this nightclub will be especially when summer 2016 arrives. You can be sure to find me at the opening weekend despite such high prices to see Skrillex. You’ll also find me at the VIP Preview Party if you were invited.
