Producer pairing MoonShine are the subject of our 8 Questions grilling this week, having recently dropped a couple of reworks of Cazzi Opeia and Jin X Jin’s “Batman & Robin”…
1) Who are three of your all-time favourite artists, past or present?
Diplo & Skrillex aka Jack Ü – They have an amazing way of producing and writing songs. Both of them do crazy sound design and their sample game is on fleek.
NAO – She’s got one of the best voices we’ve ever heard, period. And her tracks are amazing, period.
Justice – Childhood heroes who own the electro game.
2) Is there a particular tune that you have never got sick of?
“Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley…but NAO’s “Inhale Exhale” is pretty good too!
3) Describe your perfect day…
A perfect day to us is when we get to do music all day. It starts with having breakfast together in the studio, then we finish a track or a song. When everything is done we start on a new idea that we can develop the next day! After that we say “Bye bye studio” and go home to eat a great dinner with our girlfriends, watching Netflix & chilling!
4) What would people who know you well say about you in three words?
“You stupid f**ks” – in a good way!?
5) Ideal studio layout…
Our studio is starting to reach that “spaceship from the future”/“bohemian rhapsody” vibe we love. But we would love to cram a pool table in there somewhere, and our percussion rack could always be bigger.
6) What is your most valued material possession?
We’ve really based our production game on an “in the box”setup, so we don’t have that many things besides our computers and software. So guess our most valued is our Focal SM9’s. They’re great. We’re in love with them!
7) Is there something musically you would like to do more of next year?
We’d like to develop our sound even further, and continue doing remixes, original productions and songs for other artists.
8) Where do you want to be in 10 years?
On top!
