Today’s new banger comes straight out of the Appalachian Mountains with a remix of Shy Guys Says “Crank This” by Lance Lykins, also know as Lancelott, hailing from Pikeville, KY. To say I was excited when I opened this one is an understatement. I have had the pleasure of seeing both artists perform many times around the Louisville/Lexington area, and they always bring the heat. They have opened for and played on cards with huge names such as Space Jesus, 12th Planet, Herobust, Manic Focus, Snails, Alison Wonderland, Dillon Francis and tons more.
This remix uses samples from, “Crank That” a classic performed by Soulja Boi mixed in with a few wubby drops, and some 8-bit fun. The retro gaming samples really make it easy to recognize it’s a remix of Shy Guy Says who has been described as “The 8-bit villain of the Mushroom Kingdom”. This hit puts a new spin on trap music by incorporating dreamy transitions and glitchy drops that are still heavy enough to have you head banging across the dance floor. While listening to the song I was constantly reminded of artists like Virtual Riot and Luude who are both famous for their Glitch Trap style. Now all you have to do is turn the sound way up, and enjoy.
