A tragic event happened moments ago that appeared on Twitter. A woman has gone overboard during Mad Decent Boat Party. They are currently trying to find her and so far, there hasn’t been any luck. There has been no official word, but everything we’re hearing has been via passengers and artists that are currently on the ship. Everything we know is based around them and we’ll share tweets of what is currently happening.

Update from one passenger (not an official source):
Updates: The girl is 100% gone coast guard and planes took over. Music on pool decks & the ballroom resumed at like 1am. Atrak b2b Floss strong hip hop lifted everyone’s spirits. Nothing we can really do, right before she jumped she told her husband she loved him while he was in the shower and literally went right to her balcony and jumped off. They got married on here last year or something. Crazy. Not going back to port until Sunday still
#BreakingNews: @USCG searching for Kaylyn Rose Sommer, 24, from #Charleston, SC. Reported overboard on #NorwegianPearl. CG searched 600+sqNM

Official statement from Mad Decent Boat Party:
We are deeply saddened by the news that one of our guests on our current cruise went overboard on November 12. The Coast Guard is now leading all search and rescue efforts and the ship is enroute back to Miami. The safety and security of our guests and the ship’s crew is our number one priority, all appropriate safety precautions will continue to be taken for this and all of our events. Our hearts go out to the family and all involved in this incident, and we will continue to support those affected during this difficult time.
Cruise Ship’s Official Statement:
On Thursday, Nov. 12, during a chartered cruise on Norwegian Pearl, a female guest was observed intentionally going overboard while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel. The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the Coast Guard and other relevant authorities. The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time.
Random update: Should be back to Miami by Sun morning. Shows played through the afternoon/night on the boat. Only Cozumel was cancelled.

While we aren’t claiming this was a suicide or reporting it as one, we just want to remind everyone that there are numbers and websites you can go to if you need someone to talk with.
We know of two international lists that are maintained by reputable agencies; try these if you don’t find what you’re looking for below:
- The International Association for Suicide Prevention maintains a Global Crisis Centre Directory..
- The Befrienders maintain a hotline database; use the “Find a Helpline by Country” control at the top of their page.
