56th Annual GRAMMY Awards Nominees

December 8, 2013 by Grant Austin

Grammy season is upon us. Yesterday, the committee announced the 2014 Grammy Nominations and from the looks of it, it should be a good award ceremony. There are a lot of great talent in the lists, but I want to focus on certain sections and nominations. First of all, last year, Skrillex represented EDM as a whole and won three Grammy’s. He won Best Dance Recording, Best Dance/Electronica Album, and Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. This year, there are a lot of names representing EDM listed on the Grammy Nominations. Here is the list (featuring every category that relates to EDM or an EDM artist):

Record of the year
Get Lucky — Daft Punk & Pharrell Williams
Radioactive — Imagine Dragons
Royals — Lorde
Locked Out Of Heaven — Bruno Mars
Blurred Lines — Robin Thicke Featuring T.I. & Pharrell

Settle — Disclosure
18 Months — Calvin Harris
Atmosphere — Kaskade
A Color Map of the Sun — Pretty Lights

Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical

The Blue Room – Helik Hadar & Leslie Ann Jones, engineers; Bernie Grundman, mastering engineer (Madeleine Peyroux)
The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here – Paul Figueroa & Randy Staub, engineers; Ted Jensen, mastering engineer (Alice In Chains)
…Like Clockwork – Joe Barresi & Mark Rankin, engineers; Gavin Lurssen, mastering engineer (Queens Of The Stone Age)
The Moorings – Trina Shoemaker, engineer; Eric Conn, mastering engineer (Andrew Duhon)
Random Access Memories – Peter Franco, Mick Guzauski, Florian Lagatta & Daniel Lerner, engineers; Bob Ludwig, mastering engineer (Daft Punk)

Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical
Days Turn Into Nights (Andy Caldwell Remix) – Andy Caldwell, remixer (Delerium Featuring Michael Logen)
If I Lose Myself (Alesso Vs. OneRepublic) – Alesso, remixer (OneRepublic)
Locked Out Of Heaven (Sultan + Ned Shepard Remix) – Ned Shepard & Sultan, remixers (Bruno Mars)
One Love/People Get Ready (Photek Remix) – Rupert Parkes, remixer (Bob Marley And The Wailers)
Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix) – Cedric Gervais, remixer (Lana Del Rey)

As you can see, there are a lot of names here. Daft Punk featuring Pharrell Williams is up there for best song while the whole album is up for best album. Disclosure, Armin Van Buuren Calvin Harris, Kaskade, and many more are also up there. I am very happy with the remix list.

Question is, do you agree with the list? Who is missing? Who should win?
