A while back we wrote regarding deaths at the Argentina Time Warp Festival. Five attendees, ranging in their twenties, died during the overcrowded festival earlier this festival season. The critical condition and death rate of this festival is extremely uncommon, and was worrisome for many. Now, the Argentinian government is taking action. Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, says it’s no longer granting permits for major electronic music festivals.
This is being done in response to the deaths. It was announced that the deaths were drug-related. Attendees commented on the conditions of the festival being very bad, resulting in the second day being cancelled. Drug soliciting and arrests were common in the venue, with five drug-related arrests occurring during the first day of the event, Saturday.
According to Horacio Rodriguez Larreta, the mayor of Buenos Aires, this measure will be in effect until legislature approves a law to prevent drug abuse in these types of situations.
This is another reason why safety is key at festivals. We emphasize it constantly. Please check these out to read more on our opinions about this.
Be careful of who you are around
Be careful what you consume and how your body reacts
Be careful of the surrounding venue
Festivals are trying to keep you safe
