Shots Fired: Deadmau5 Goes to War with Trust Fund Kids, Bad Venues, and Promoters

It is official, Joel is back on Twitter and he is back with a vengeance. This time, he is going after trust fund kids, bad venues, and promoters. Recently, a storm broke out starting with a single word “yawn” from Deadmau5.

Normally, this isn’t a surprise from Joel, but it was the subsequent tweets that revealed that he was supposed to be playing at Mansion in Miami, Florida. Turns out he was.

Normally, this is expected especially at clubs. I can say, I am guilty for trying to get a photo or two from the talent, but this is bad.

Bad? Right? Joel hates the elitism in clubs. He is notorious for complaining about it because he truly cares about his “real fans”. It is the same reason why he opened up his subscription service. He was so frustrated, he took it out on Mansion, but then met with his real fans.

After all this shenanigans, he took to his website and said this:

I fucking reamed out my agent for making me deal with that,” he wrote. “Putting fans in the back and trust fund kids up front is fucking stupid as fuck.” As a result, he “won’t be playing any more Miami clubs.” Instead, Zimmerman said, “I’d rather rent a venue / parking lot / beachfront and fuckin’ do it right.

Good for Joel! I prefer that. He wants it all his way or no way. In his chat, he stated:

My own tour, my own venues, my own prices, my own policies…Seriously, I just want to have great fuckin’ shows with great people, not deal with VIP bullshit, overcharging for fucked up shit, etc. etc…We’re trying our best to shoot for fall for the ‘big ass show’ project we’ve been working on for the past 2 years, but ABSOLUTELY worst case… spring 2015.

Either way, Deadmau5 is looking out for us. He cares about us, the fans. We want him to do what he does best: MAKE ART. Just because all the haters doesn’t mean all the goodness doesn’t shine through. Recall Draw4Deadmau5 or how he responded to a guy on Reddit who asked for help.
